Near-Critical States in the Brain
Author(s): Igor Yevin

Category: Brief Article

Many researchers argue that the brain as a complex system operates strongly at the critical point. This paper aims to show that actually both subcritical and supercritical states also exist in the brain and all three states have clear psychological meanings. We associate subcritical state with sleep, the critical state with waking state and language communication and supercriticality with creativity.
