Inquiry and Enterprise Transformation
Author(s): Dean Bonney

Subject(s): CX.68

The paper will provide a framework for Enterprise Transformation, and will demonstrate how inquiry can be used to evolve the positive images that exist within the framework in order to achieve positive change. Concepts, hypotheses, and theories that will be discussed in the paper include Chaos Theory, Complex Adaptive Systems, The Heliotropic Hypothesis, Positive Images, Predictive Relationships, and Appreciative Inquiry. Three operational engineering domains and their associated disciplines will be introduced (bounded - systems engineering, transitional - enterprise systems engineering, and unbounded - social engineering) to describe how positive images and predictive relationships react with each other to achieve equilibrium where the unbounded domain and chaos intersect. Inquiry will be presented as a continuum that moves from bounded to unbounded. Examples of bounded and unbounded inquiry and their impact on Enterprises will be presented. The impact of inquiry on transforming an Enterprise will be presented.
